Alex Snydman Quartet feat. Josh Nelson, Danny Janklow, and Jonathan Richards

Alva’s Showroom is excited to welcome the debut of The Alex Snydman Quartet.  This group features pianist Josh Nelson, one of the most in-demand jazz pianists on the West Coast. In addition to his numerous ongoing musical endeavors (including 7 albums as a leader), he has also performed with Natalie Cole, Kurt Elling, John Pizzarelli, Lewis Nash, Greg Hutchinson, Benny Golson, Sheila Jordan, John Clayton, George Mraz, Jeff Hamilton, Alicia Olatuja, Joe Chambers, and Sara Gazarek.

Bandleader, drummer and composer, Alex Snydman, launched himself onto the modern jazz landscape with his 2013 debut album entitled Fortunate Action.  All About Jazz declares “Fortunate Action deserves serious attention from critics and fans alike.”  This sentiment is echoed by EJAZZ NEWS saying “Alex Snydman has offered the listening public a new level of sound, with accolade-blanketed reactions” and Brent Black of Critical Jazz declaring the album as “One of the best for 2013…4.5 Stars…on point in every possible fashion.”

Alex has performed at major jazz clubs and festivals on the East and West Coasts as a leader and sideman, sharing the stage with artists such as Grammy winner Charles Neville, Larry Koonse, Grace Kelly, Avery Sharpe, Joe Sanders, Miro Sprague, Tatum Greenblatt, Chris Pattishall, Josh Johnson, Danny Janklow and many more.  For more info visit www.alexsnydmanmusic.com

Two-time Grammy nominated saxophonist & composer, Danny Janklow, is quickly gaining international recognition.  Danny won 1st place in the North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA) Competition. While living on the east coast, he frequently played at the Village Vanguard with the legendary Vanguard Jazz Orchestra.  In August 2012, he won 1st place at the Detroit Jazz Festival Saxophone Competition and headlined on that year’s festival. In 2013, he was selectively chosen as a semi-finalist to compete in the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Saxophone Competition in Washington D.C.  Danny has enjoyed the pleasure of sharing the stage and/or recording with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Kendrick Lamar, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, George Benson, Aloe Blacc, Wynton & Branford Marsalis, and many others.

The group is rounded out by one of LA’s most in demand bass players, Jonathan Richards.  Jonathan tours with Joe LaBarbera, Bill Cunliffe and many many more.
