Grammy-nominated Brazilian valve trombonist François de Lima leads a premier quartet of Brazilian musicians in a breath-taking, joyful and heart-pumping evening of groovin’ samba, Jazz, Bossa Nova and MPB (“Música popular brasileira” or Brazilian Pop Music). François de Lima is one of the founders of the Brazilian big band, Banda Mantiqueira. The band’s album Aldeia was nominated for a 1997 Latin Grammy for “Best Latin Jazz Performance.” He has earned worldwide acclaim for the swing in his interpretations and the creativity of his improvisations. The concert will feature a unique blend of Brazilian ginga (swing) and American jazz including songs by Djavan, João Bosco, and Moacir Santos as recorded in de Lima’s Suingue Brasileiro.  de Lima has toured all over the world with world-renown Brazilian artists including Djavan, George Benson, Paquito D’Rivera, Jorge Benjor, Ney Matogrosso, Flora Plurim and Airto Moreira and Gal Costa. With Gal Costa he performed at Carnegie Hall.
