This Saturday night at Alvas Showroom in San Pedro there will be a very special musical event featuring world class performers in an intimate and sonically superior listening space. World-renowned keyboard artist David Garfield, who has played at Alvas since its opening some years ago, will take the stage along with Grammy Award winning saxophone artist Eric Marienthal, who was a member of Chick Corea’s Electric Band and the Rippingtons as well as a long time member of Gordon Goodwin’s “Big Phat Band”. It’s a rare treat to experience Eric performing locally as he is constantly touring all over the world and keeps busy as the artistic director for the Blue Note and Smooth Jazz Cruises. Also in the band will be legendary drum hero Chad Wackerman, who just returned from touring with James Taylor as the substitute for Steve Gadd. Chad has also been a long time collaborator with Alan Holdsworth and Frank Zappa. Rising guitar star Tony Pulizzi will spice up the show with his high energy and versatile guitar wizardry. Rounding out the lineup and joining the band for the first time is Travis Carlton bass, the son of the great Larry Carlton (Steely Dan, The Crusaders) whose portrait is hanging on the walls of the venue.
With David at the helm on the Steinway grand, this world-class ensemble will perform his original compositions, popular covers and his smooth jazz radio hits from his 40 plus years of critically acclaimed recordings…. This all-star Grammy award winning lineup is not to be missed!
